NAIMA organizes ‘Mobility Sambaad’ on CKD vehicle assembly with IOE

KATHMANDU : The Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), in collaboration with the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Thapathali Campus, has concluded the ninth edition of its monthly ‘NAIMA Mobility Sambaad’.

The discussion focused on CKD vehicle assembly and its opportunities, challenges, and prospects.

Chaired by Thapathali Campus Chief Dr. Khem Gnyawali, the program was attended by around 200 participants. The event featured a technical presentation and a panel discussion with representatives from the Department of Transport Management, NAIMA, and IOE Thapathali.

Speakers described CKD vehicle assembly as an important step towards local manufacturing under the “Make in Nepal” policy. They highlighted its role in job creation, skill development, technology transfer, and strengthening the domestic supply chain. The need for policy stability and stronger academia-industry collaboration was also emphasized.

NAIMA Board Member Yamuna Shrestha said that CKD assembly, clear policies, and coordinated efforts among educational institutions, government, and the private sector are essential to make Nepal’s automobile industry sustainable and competitive.

NAIMA Executive Director Rajkumar Dulal informed that NAIMA Mobility Sambaad will continue in the coming months, with the tenth edition planned to be held at IOE Pulchowk Campus.
