KATHMANDU: Chinese automaker Dongfeng has officially begun presales of its all-electric compact crossover, the Nammi 06, in China, with a starting price of 89,900 yuan (approximately $12,320).

With its modern design, practical features and highly competitive pricing, the Nammi 06 has already generated strong interest in Nepal, where Dongfeng’s smaller electric hatchback, Nammi Box, has seen notable success.

The Nammi 06 is expected to make its debut in Nepal soon. According to MAW Vriddhi, the authorised distributor for Dongfeng’s Nammi brand in Nepal, the new EV will be showcased at the 2025 NADA Auto Show in August. It is among the most anticipated upcoming models in the local market.

Despite its budget-friendly pricing, the Nammi 06 offers impressive specifications. It is powered by a 135 kW front-mounted motor and is available with two battery options: a 44.94 kWh unit with a claimed range of up to 401 km, and a 51.87 kWh pack offering up to 471 km, both under China’s CLTC standard. The small SUV also supports fast charging, taking the battery from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes.

The Nammi 06 is available in five trims in China, priced between 89,900 and 119,900 yuan ($12,320 to $16,435). The pricing makes it a direct competitor to the BYD Yuan Up (also known as Atto 2).

Built on Dongfeng’s new Quantum Architecture 3 platform, the Nammi 06 is positioned as a compact urban SUV. It features a clean, minimalist look with T-shaped LED headlamps, a split tailgate that supports up to 150 kg and a spacious 500-liter boot. The vehicle measures 4,306 mm in length, 1,868 mm in width and 1,645 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,715 mm.

Inside, the cabin includes a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless charging pad, and premium offerings such as ventilated and massage seats in higher trims.

The Nammi 06 is expected to build on the momentum of Dongfeng’s earlier successes in Nepal. Its mix of performance, design and value positions it as a compelling choice for city drivers and young EV buyers.
