KATHMANDU: The updated Geely EX2 electric hatchback has been spotted on road tests in China. The model, known as Geely Xingyuan in its home market, was China’s bestselling car from January to October 2025.

It first launched in October 2024 and quickly became popular. Geely sold 387,590 units in the first ten months of 2025. With production now stable, the company has started sending the EX2 to overseas markets while also testing this new update.

Spy photos show only small changes on the outside. The updated EX2 keeps its current design and dimensions. It still has oval headlights and taillights, a closed front end, flush door handles, and blacked-out pillars.

The only new feature is a set of aerodynamic rims. Inside, the gear shifter has moved to the steering column. The steering wheel now carries the Geely Galaxy logo. Some buttons on the center tunnel and doors have been rearranged.

The 14.6-inch main screen and 8.8-inch instrument cluster stay the same. Powertrain details have not been confirmed. The current EX2 has two options: a 58 kW motor with a 30.12 kWh battery offering 310 km CLTC range, and an 85 kW motor with a 40.16 kWh pack offering 410 km.

In China, the Geely EX2 is priced from USD 9,710 to 13,950. For comparison, the BYD Atto 1 costs USD 9,850 to 12,110 in China. This puts the EX2 slightly lower on the price range.

For Nepal, the updated EX2 could become a future option. LRR Motors is currently importing Geely vehicles in Nepal and selling the EX5 Pro and EX5 Max.

It is expected to enter the Nepali market soon under the name Proton e.MAS 5.
