KATHMANDU: Paramount Motors, the authorized distributor of MG vehicles in Nepal, has begun delivering the IM 6 SUV.

IM is the premium sub-brand of MG.

Although the company had planned to begin delivery after the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo in August, the closure of the Nepal-China border points due to floods and landslides affected its delivery plan.

“We had planned to begin delivery after the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo,” Sunil Bahadur Chhetri, General Manager of Paramount Motors, told MeroAuto. “However, the main route to Kathmandu was blocked by floods and landslides which affected the import of vehicles. Now that the vehicles have arrived, we have finally started deliveries.”

The IM6 is available in a single variant priced at Rs 7.499 million. The SUV has received strong reviews in several international markets. A flip-down wide-screen TV in the car gives the cabin a distinctly premium feel. Globally, it competes directly with the Tesla Model Y.

The IM6 combines design and technology elements inspired by several luxury automakers — a flip-down TV similar to BMW’s i7, a Porsche-style key, Tesla-inspired wing mirrors and door handles reminiscent of the Fiat 500.

The IM 6 features advanced technology such as high-precision LiDAR, NVIDIA Drive Orin chip, and Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P platform, making it one of the most intelligent and connected electric SUVs available in Nepal.

Additional premium features include Rolls-Royce-like soft floor mats, Hyundai-style blind spot cameras and autonomous reversing technology seen in BMW cars. Built on the industry-leading 800-volt electric architecture, the IM6 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 17 minutes, making it as fast as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 but more affordable.

The SUV also offers self-parking capability, and its seats feature heating, ventilation, and massage functions — the first-ever massage seats in an MG SUV. A large 26-inch dashboard display integrates the infotainment system and instrument cluster into one panoramic digital interface.

From the rear, the IM6 sports an Aston Martin-like ducktail spoiler and a full-width LED light bar, while its front and side profiles draw inspiration from Tesla’s design language.

The IM 6 comes equipped with a smart driving assist feature, which, the company claims, is 6.7 times safer than manual driving. Its autonomous parking assist uses 300 sensors for precise movement. The SUV’s 20-speaker audio system delivers a theatre-like sound experience, which will appeal to young buyers.

Powered by a 109 kW electric motor generating 450 Nm of peak torque, the IM6 houses a 75 kWh ternary battery offering a range of around 500 kilometers on a single charge, according to the company.

Built on IM’s proprietary “Lizard Digital Chassis”, the IM 6 features advanced technology such as high-precision LiDAR, NVIDIA Drive Orin chip, and Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P platform, making it one of the most intelligent and connected electric SUVs available in Nepal.
