KATHMANDU: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that the company’s new Cybercab will start production in about eight months, aiming for a Q2 2026 launch in the U.S.

The vehicle will have no steering wheel or pedals, as it is built for full self-driving.

Musk shared that Tesla is making good progress on its vision-based Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. The current version, FSD v14, is already being used by customers and has received positive feedback. This progress, he said, has encouraged the company to begin preparing for production.

“We’ll expand production as quickly as we can, and as fast as our suppliers can keep up,” Musk said. “The biggest production growth will come from the Cybercab, which starts in Q2 next year.”

He confirmed that the Cybercab is designed purely for autonomy. “It doesn’t have a steering wheel or pedals,” he said. “It’s made to reduce the overall cost per mile.”

Musk’s plan to expand quickly shows Tesla expects high demand from FSD buyers, investors, or future Cybercab customers.

If Tesla meets its target, the Cybercab could be the company’s next big success, giving the brand a much-needed boost as sales slow and competition rises, according to global media reports.
