Top electric SUVs with the best ground clearance in Nepal

KATHMANDU: For most EV buyers, the first question is usually the battery size. The next and equally important question is ground clearance. Until these two factors are clearly addressed, customers rarely finalize an EV purchase.

Responding to this demand, brands have started offering electric SUVs with higher ground clearance, often highlighting it in their marketing.

Early EVs came with only 150–175 mm clearance, but dealers now claim that some Chinese manufacturers have even increased ground clearance specifically for the Nepali market.

With dozens of electric SUVs now available, here are 10 models known for their higher ground clearance:

1. LEV 01

The Chinese-made LEV 01 offers 210 mm ground clearance. Distributed by Nexon Venture, the SUV comes in two variants; SE priced at Rs 6.195 million and CE at Rs 6.995 million.

2. Mahindra BE.6

Mahindra’s BE.6 features a futuristic design and 207 mm ground clearance. Agni Incorporated sells the model in Nepal with prices starting at Rs 5.7 million.

3. Mahindra XEV 9

The larger Mahindra XEV 9 also offers 207 mm of ground clearance. The starting price is Rs 6.9 million, positioning it as a premium electric SUV.

4. Tata Nexon K3

The updated Tata Nexon K3 provides 205 mm ground clearance. Distributed by Sipradi Trading, the model is priced at Rs 4.899 million.

5. Hyundai Creta EV

Hyundai’s Creta EV, made in India, comes with a ground clearance of 200 mm, higher than its petrol counterpart. The model is sold in Nepal through Laxmi Intercontinental, starting at Rs 5.196 million.

6. Jaecoo J6

Jaecoo J6, the first EV SUV under Chery’s New Energy brand, provides 200 mm ground clearance. SPG Automobiles sells it for Rs 6.599 million.

7. BYD Atto 2

The BYD Atto 2 features 200 mm ground clearance and modern safety updates. Distributed by Cimex Inc., it is priced at Rs 4.399 million, making it one of the most affordable 200 mm-clearance EVs.

8. Leapmotor C10

Leapmotor C10 offers 190 mm ground clearance and is marketed as a family-oriented electric SUV. Shangrila Motors sells it for Rs 6.999 million.

9. Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch EV provides 190 mm ground clearance and is available only in the Long Range variant. It is priced from Rs 3.899 million, distributed by Sipradi Trading.

10. Seres 3

The Seres 3 Premium variant comes with 190 mm ground clearance. MAW Vriddhi Motors sells the model for Rs 4.887 million.
