KATHMANDU: SPG Automobile, the authorized distributor for Chery in Nepal, is planning to introduce the new Chery QQ electric car to the local market.

The compact EV, which was recently unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2025, has gained attention for its modern design and smart features.

The Chery QQ, originally a gasoline-powered car discontinued in 2014, has made a comeback as a fully electric hatchback. Measuring under 3.5 meters in length, the QQ is designed for urban roads where traffic congestion and limited parking spaces are common. Its stylish black-and-white exterior, geometric headlights and unique “QQ” logo give it a fresh, youthful appeal.

Electric vehicles are gaining momentum in Nepal as the country moves toward sustainable and eco-friendly transport. The Chery QQ fits with this shift with its electric powertrain and expected affordability.

SPG Automobile, known for introducing Chery models like the Omoda and Jaecoo series in Nepal, is aiming to expand its EV portfolio. With no current offering in the small EV segment, the QQ could fill that gap and serve as a compelling option for budget-conscious city drivers.

The QQ is expected to compete with other compact EVs, including the MG Comet, KaiYi e-Qute, Tata Tiago and BAW Brumby, in Nepal. While official pricing and battery specifications have not been announced yet, the QQ’s compact size, smart features and energy efficiency are likely to appeal to young drivers and first-time buyers.

With the government offering incentives for EVs and demand for compact electric vehicles rising, the Chery QQ’s launch in Nepal could prove both timely and strategically important.
