KATHMANDU: Torque Motors, the official distributor of BMW motorcycles in Nepal, has discontinued sales of the popular G-310 series in the Nepali market.

The series, which includes the G-310 R and G-310 GS models, had been available in Nepal since its introduction in December 2018. The models are being discontinued as BMW has stopped production of the G-310 series in India where the German automaker was manufacturing bikes in collaboration with TVS Motor Company.

BMW decided to stop production of these two models due to the enforcement of stricter Onboard Diagnosis Phase 2 (OBD 2B) emission norms in India.

Over the past seven years, approximately 350 units of these entry-level BMW motorcycles were sold in Nepal. No new units were imported for the past two years.

Torque Motors has assured existing owners of the continued availability of spare parts despite the discontinuation of these two models. “We have already placed orders for spare parts, which should arrive within a week,” said Amit Jha, Service Manager at Torque Motors. “As these models sold well in India, parts availability won’t be an issue.”

He added that customers can continue to ride their motorcycles with confidence, as the company is committed to after-sales service and support.

Meanwhile, the company plans to introduce the new BMW G-450 GS in the Nepali market once the model is launched in India.
