KATHMANDU: BYD has globally launched the T4 light-duty truck at the Wuhan International Commercial Vehicle Show. The new electric model features a 62.3 kWh Blade Battery and a 150 kW flat-wire motor that produces 204 horsepower. The global starting price is around 13,400 USD.
The T4 offers a cargo volume of up to 15 cubic meters. Its cargo box measures up to 4,100 mm in length. BYD says the truck uses a 3-ton large-section rear axle, which improves load capacity by about 20 percent compared to rivals. The motor provides strong pulling power and allows the truck to climb steep hills even when fully loaded.

The T4 is the first in its class to use both electric brakes and full-disc brakes. This setup gives a faster braking response. It also comes with more than ten driver-assistance features, including EPB and ESC. The truck uses BYD’s Blade Battery and a CTC integrated chassis.
It has an ultra-high-strength steel cage body, 71 percent galvanized steel, and has passed the European R29 crash test.
The model has also completed two million kilometers of durability testing.

BYD’s self-developed three-electric system gives the T4 a range of up to 330 km under CLTC testing. Energy use stands at 5.5 km per kWh. The truck also uses direct-cooling battery technology that supports fast charging, adding up to 100 km of range in about ten minutes.
The design takes inspiration from the Arc de Triomphe. Inside, it features the DiLink system, a digital instrument cluster, leather seats, and ergonomic controls. The cabin stays quiet at 65 dB and can cool down in ten minutes.
