KATHMANDU: MG Motor is set to bring a new electric SUV to the market. The model, called the CyberX, was first shown as a concept at the Shanghai Auto Show. It will enter production within the next two years.
The CyberX is a compact SUV with a bold and boxy design. It comes with a five-door layout and upright styling, similar to premium SUVs like the Mercedes EQB. According to MG’s UK Product and Planning head, David Allison, the model is seen as a “spiritual successor to the Suzuki Jimny.”
The production version will keep much of the concept’s angular look but with some changes. Conventional headlights are expected to replace the pop-up units.
Features like the panoramic roof may be reserved for top trims. Inside, the SUV will have a minimalist design with a large central screen, a digital instrument cluster and generous passenger space.
The CyberX is likely to use MG’s latest battery and motor technology. It is expected to include a semi-solid-state battery that improves performance in cold weather.
The estimated driving range could be up to 482 km. Most variants will come with front-wheel drive, while higher trims may offer all-wheel drive.

Globally, the CyberX is expected to start at around 40,000 USD. This pricing makes it an affordable option in the growing electric SUV segment. The model is designed for buyers looking for a balance of style, technology and practicality.
MG Motor, owned by SAIC Motor Corporation, has been expanding its range with petrol, hybrid and electric vehicles.
The CyberX is part of the brand’s move toward accessible electric mobility and offers a new choice for compact SUV buyers.
