KATHMANDU: The Miteri Bridge that connects Nepal and China at Rasuwagadhi in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, was destroyed by floods early this morning.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the bridge was washed away at around 3:15 AM due to heavy rainfall and rising water levels in the Bhotekoshi River.
Shortly after, around 4:00 AM, floodwaters also swept away several cargo containers from the customs yard in Timure, which lies in the same ward. Similarly, new electric vehicles (EVs) parked in dry docks have also been washed away by the floods.
Similarly, newly imported electric vehicles (EVs) and cargo containers parked in dry docks were also swept away by the flood.
According to sources from Trisuli, the flooded trucks and EVs have been carried downstream and have reached Trisuli Bazar.

Rabindra Prasad Pyakurel, the information officer at the Rasuwagadhi Customs Office, said the flood also swept away containers and electric vehicles kept at the customs yard. He mentioned that the exact number of items washed away is still unknown.
So far, no human casualties have been reported.
Authorities have issued alerts to residents in low-lying areas, as the water level in the river continues to rise. People are being urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
Ashish Gajurel, executive director of the Intermodal Transport Development Committee, informed that the dry port in Timmure has suffered extensive damage.
