KATHMANDU: Nissan India has officially announced the name of its upcoming compact SUV. The SUV, which will compete directly with the highly successful Hyundai Creta, has been named Tekton — an ancient Greek terminology for artisan or craftsman.

According to media reports in India, the Tekton will go on sale in mid-2026 in India. The SUV will be introduced in Nepal following its launch in India.

Nissan India on Tuesday revealed the exterior design of the new SUV and shared initial details about its interior features as well. Design-wise, the Tekton draws inspiration from Nissan’s larger SUV, the Patrol, featuring a bold grille, strong character lines and a flat bonnet. It will come equipped with LED headlamps and taillights connected by a sleek light bar. The side profile includes flared wheel arches similar to those on the Magnite.

Inside, the Tekton will feature a three-tone dashboard, combining soft-touch materials on the upper section and glossy black finishes on the lower part.

The new SUV will offer a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver display, wireless smartphone connectivity, ventilated seats a 360-degree camera and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features.

While the company has not yet disclosed engine specifications, Tekton is expected to be offered with petrol and hybrid powertrain options. Built on the CMF-B platform, the model is expected to share similarities with Renault’s next-generation Duster.
