KATHMANDU: SAIC Motor has launched the new MG 4X electric SUV in China with a semi-solid-state battery option. The company has set the starting price at 99,800 yuan (around $14,700), while a limited-time promotional price starts from $13,700.
The MG 4X is the first electric SUV under MG’s new EV lineup to use semi-solid-state battery technology. The SUV comes with two battery choices, including a 53.9 kWh semi-solid-state battery supplied by SAIC Qingtao and a 64.2 kWh LFP battery from CATL.

According to the company, the 53.9 kWh semi-solid-state battery provides up to 510 km CLTC range. The larger 64.2 kWh LFP battery offers up to 610 km range on the CLTC cycle.
The entry-level variants use a 125 kW rear-mounted electric motor producing 167 hp, while higher trims get a more powerful 150 kW motor with 201 hp output.

The MG 4X measures 4,500 mm in length and has a 2,735 mm wheelbase. Its size is close to the BYD Atto 3 sold in global markets.
Inside, the SUV gets a 15.6-inch floating infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch driver display. The system supports intelligent driving features, including highway navigation assist and remote parking functions.
The MG 4X is available in Free and Smart trims. Free variants get 5 cameras and 8 ultrasonic radars, while Smart variants use 21 intelligent sensors for advanced ADAS functions.
