KATHMANDU: As electric vehicles gain popularity in Nepal, price remains the most decisive factor for buyers. Budget planning largely determines whether a customer chooses a hatchback, a compact SUV, or a premium electric model.
EVs priced from around Rs 2 million to over Rs 20 million are now available in the market, offering buyers a wide range of options.
While concerns remain about long-term durability, brands such as BYD, MG, and Hyundai are focusing on improving EV longevity. In 2026, several new electric models are expected to enter the Nepali market, particularly from Chinese manufacturers.
Brands including MG, Omoda/Jaecoo, Leapmotor, Deepal, BYD, Geely, and Proton are preparing new launches. Indian manufacturers such as Tata, Suzuki, Toyota, and Mahindra, along with Korean brands Kia and Hyundai, are also likely to introduce new EVs.
Here are six upcoming EV models expected to attract attention in 2026:
- Toyota Hilux EV
Toyota is expected to introduce the Hilux EV in Nepal by April 2026. It will be the brand’s first electric pickup for the local market.
