KATHMANDU: Skoda’s Elroq compact electric SUV is quickly gaining popularity in the global automotive market. In just six months of launch, the Czech carmaker has received 45,000 orders for this affordable and attractive SUV.
The Elroq is Skoda’s smallest electric model yet, featuring a taller body than the Volkswagen ID.3. Starting at $39,700, it undercuts many competitors by approximately $11,300, making it an appealing option for buyers seeking a practical and budget-friendly EV.
Skoda, already a well-established brand in Europe, recently outperformed its parent company, Volkswagen, in EV sales in some European countries. As EV adoption grows, Skoda is moving in the right direction alongside Volkswagen, which was named Europe’s top EV brand in the first quarter of 2025.
Fully owned by the Volkswagen Group, Skoda benefits from access to its parent company’s cutting-edge technology and strong global support.
The Elroq is built on the MEB platform which is also used by other popular EV models under the Volkswagen group.
Skoda began its electric journey with compact models like the Citigo iV. The major success for the company came with the launch of its first electric SUV – the Enyaq. The Elroq is continuing the momentum, especially with the Elroq RS – a powerful and sportier variant that is getting a lot of attention across Europe.
The Elroq is already performing well in key markets like Germany, the UK, France, the Netherlands and Belgium. Thanks to strong demand, Skoda doubled its EV sales target for the year. Deliveries have already begun in several European countries.
Skoda also plans to introduce the Elroq to South Asia, with an India launch expected later this year alongside the larger Enyaq EV. Since many Indian models launched in India also make their way into Nepal, Elroq is also expected to be launched in Nepal by the end of this year. If priced competitively, the Skoda Elroq could be an attractive option for Nepali consumers considering the switch to electric mobility.
MAW Enterprises is the official distributor of Skoda in Nepal.
