KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has shortlisted two companies for the procurement of 110 units of two-wheelers.
After evaluating bids submitted by different suppliers, the Supreme Court shortlisted two firms that it found technically eligible to supply motorcycles. Similarly, one firm has been selected to supply scooters, according to a Supreme Court official.
CG Motors Pvt Ltd and Hansraj Hulaschand & Company have been shortlisted for the purchase of 60 motorcycles. Similarly, CG Motors has been selected to supply 50 scooters.
CG Motors represents Hero two-wheelers in Nepal, while Hansraj Hulaschand & Company is the authorized distributor of Bajaj in Nepal.
The exact cost of the two-wheelers will be determined after the financial proposals of the bidders are opened on May 13.
The apex court earlier selected KMC Automobiles, under the Chaudhary Group, for the supply 61 compact SUVs.
The selected suppliers will be required to deliver the vehicles within 30 days of the proposal opening date.
According to the Supreme Court’s specifications, the motorcycles must have a 125cc engine generating 10 PS of power and 10 Nm of torque. They must be equipped with a 10-liter fuel tank, a four-speed transmission system, drum or disc brakes on both wheels, and must have a ground clearance of 155 mm.
For scooters, the requirements include a four-stroke SI petrol engine with a minimum capacity of 115cc, generating 7.5 PS power and 8 Nm torque. The scooters must weigh at least 100 kilograms, feature drum or disc brakes on both wheels, have a minimum fuel tank capacity of 5 liters, a ground clearance of 155 mm, and they must be manufactured in the fiscal year 2024/25.
