KATHMANDU: Audi has confirmed that its upcoming all-electric sports car based on the Concept C will enter production by 2028. The model is expected to introduce a new design direction and a faster development process for the German automaker.
Audi CEO Gernot Dollner said the project is moving forward despite earlier speculation about cancellation. The production version is widely viewed as a spiritual successor to the Audi TT sports car.
The Concept C will also serve as a benchmark for how future Audi vehicles are developed. The company plans to shorten development cycles by adopting a faster project structure inspired by its China-focused sub-brand AUDI.

Under this approach, design, engineering and production teams will work together from the beginning of the development process. Audi says this will allow faster decision-making while maintaining German engineering standards.
The concept introduces a new interior layout with a cleaner cabin design that reduces reliance on large infotainment screens. It will also feature a thinner vertical grille design, replacing the wider grille seen on models such as the Audi RS5.
Audi has also acknowledged that interior quality in some recent models has declined. The company plans to improve material quality, simplify production and reduce manufacturing costs in its next generation of vehicles.
If the Concept C reaches production as planned, it could define the design language and development strategy for future Audi models, according to media reports.
