KATHMANDU: BMW Motorrad has begun testing its upcoming F 450 GS motorcycle in India.
The F 450 GS is said to be the successor to the G 310 bikes which were discontinued last month.
BMW was making G 310 series bikes in partnership with TVS in India. It is not certain whether the F 450 GS is also being manufactured at a TVS facility.
The BMW F 450 GS was first unveiled as a concept at the 2024 EICMA Auto Show and was later showcased at the 2025 India Mobility Expo. Recent spy shots of the bike undergoing tests in Karnataka have further fueled discussions about its production in India.
The F 450 GS is powered by a 450cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces a maximum output of 48 PS. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox.
Styled as a mid-sized adventure motorcycle in line with the larger BMW R 1300 GS, the F 450 GS features a front beak-style mudguard, tall windscreen, upswept exhaust, rear saddle rack, alloy wheels with block-pattern tubeless tires, a single-piece rally seat, USD front forks and a rear monoshock suspension.
The bike will also be equipped with a full-color TFT digital instrument cluster offering smartphone connectivity and navigation. Additional features include full LED lighting, DRLs, cornering ABS, switchable traction control, multiple riding modes and dual-channel ABS.
BMW is expected to launch the F 450 GS globally in 2026. In India, the motorcycle is expected to be priced between 450,000-500,000 Indian rupees.
